Supporting Japanese for Debian system

talk a bit about what the Debian-JP project is doing in order to make software work for Japanese people, common pitfalls in supporting multibyte characters and perhaps he will also touch the area of Kana and Kanj iinput.

• 英語のドキュメントが少ないので、ささいなことでもいいので 書きためていくべき。
• 日本人なら当然のようにわかっていることも、わかっていないことが多い。
• 日本語の処理に関してはこういうところで問題になるのだというのを 主張しつづけないと、何が問題になりなぜ提案している修正が必要と なるのかを理解してもらえない。
• 日本語入力に関しては、画面とキーを両方表示するanimationがあると いいのではないか?
• 日本語化、国際化した時にどういう変更をどういう方針でおこなったのか といった事例をまとめておくといいのではないか?
• localeや翻訳に関しては問題意識がある人は多い。 localeに関しては、そのlocaleの定義がvalidなのかを判定できる人が いない場合もあったりするあたりが難しい。 言語は同じでも国によっていいまわしが違う場合などが気になるらしい。
• multibyte characterに関しては、日本人ががんばらないと対応される 見込みは低いと思われる。
• non native Englishな人は結構いる。
• 国際化ドメインネームは horribly things! How can I type japanese domain name?!
• 関係ないけど、日本人の姓名表記に対する質問があった GOTO Masanori, Fumitoshi UKAI。family name は capitalを使うことがある 前後は人によって違う
